Finally have the new website up and running! Welcome. I am making the switch from blogger to squarespace so I can have everything in one spot. I hope my posts on my works in progress, the exhibitions I have work in, and commentary on the art that inspires me will be of interest to collectors, workshop students and fellow artists.
I begin with the exciting news that I was invited last year to make a piece for the 40th anniversary of the International Crane Foundation. I made "Upon Reflection" with a crane of sculpted cheesecloth stitched to dupioni and mounted on a gold-leafed canvas. Now one of the generous donors is flying me in to attend the gala where I will have the honour of meeting Jane Goodall and watching (gulp) the live auction (click their Auction tab) of my artwork and the beautiful works of other talented artists. The next day I will tour the crane sanctuary at Baraboo. I am excited beyond words.
I have become quite smitten with cranes and am making several other small pieces to give full rein to all the opportunities for creativity they provide.
I hope my next post will include one or two of these new pieces.
